Beef burgers

For 5 burgers:

Ingredients

500g lean beef mince
2 garlic cloves, crushed
2 tsp tomato ketchup
2 tsp mustard
1 egg, lightly beaten
1 chilli, finely chopped (optional)
1 small onion (c. 100g), finely diced
5 cheese slices (optional)

Method

1. In a large bowl mix together the mince, garlic, tomato ketchup, mustard, egg, chilli and onion.

2. Dive in with your hands and mix until the ingredients are well blended.

3. Heat a medium grill and cook for about 7-9 minutes each side. (Alternatively you can heat a little neutral oil in a large non-stick frying pan and fry the burgers.)

4. Place a cheese slice on each of the burger patties and grill on a high heat for a minute or so.

5. Serve with lightly toasted burger buns and salad.
